EMPOWERED 2019

Following the success of EMPOWERED 2018 (previously known as vPOWER 2018), we are pleased to extend the campaign to the wider partner community and launch EMPOWERED 2019.


1. Promotion Period

As the second phase of EMPOWERED 2018 Promotion (previously known as vPOWER 2018), EMPOWERED 2019 shall begin on 21st of May 2019 and shall end on 31st December 2019 (“Promotion Period”).

For individual sellers who registered for EMPOWERED 2018 (launched in December 2018), their registration will be automatically extended to EMPOWERED 2019. The EMPOWERED 2018 Promotion (previously known as vPOWER 2018) becomes EMPOWERED 2019, and except where otherwise stated herein, all terms applicable to EMPOWERED 2018 Promotion shall now be replaced by the terms of EMPOWERED 2019 set out herein.

2. Participant Eligibility:

The EMPOWERED 2019 (“Promotion”) is open to VMware authorized Solution Providers, Distributors and VCPP partners (“Participants”) in EMEA. There are two target groups for this promotion:

  • Solution Providers: Participants from Solution Providers will be individual sellers (as per EMPOWERED 2018).

  • Distributors and VCPP partners: Participants will be at company level.

For Solution Providers:

  • Participant must be a sales representative from a VMware Solution Provider.

  • Individual participant must have approval from their VMware Partner employer to enter the Promotion. Participant needs to provide signed Organisational Consent from VMware Partner employer before 30th of November 2019.

  • Partner which employs Participant must have a valid contract with VMware and must be in good standing during the Promotional Period to be eligible to participate in the Promotion. Partners in good standing are those meeting all (1) Programmatic requirements designated in the applicable VMware Program Guide and (2) VMware Partner Program contractual requirements and (3) the Partner Code of Conduct requirements.

For Distributors and VCPP partners:

  • Partners must have a valid contract with VMware and must be in good standing during the Promotional Period to be eligible to participate in the Promotion. Partners in good standing are those meeting all (1) Programmatic and compliance requirements designated in the applicable VMware Program Guide and (2) VMware Partner Program contractual requirements and (3) the Partner Code of Conduct requirements.

The following categories of persons shall not be eligible to participate in the Promotion under any circumstances:

·       predominantly (50% or more) state-owned entities or governmental bodies, and any employees thereof; or

·       VMware employees, or

  • Citizens or residents of Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, or Syria.

3. Performance measurement:

Solution Provider participants and Distributor partners will be ranked based on a point system.

The points earning and measurement period for the promotion is between 21st of May 2019 and 31st of December 2019.

For EMPOWERED 2018 participants, points earning period for this promotion is between 1st of April 2019 and 31st of December 2019. Points already earned by EMPOWERED 2018 participants will be counted for this promotion, except winners for EMPOWERED 2018 (who are  informed by VMware), whose points earned between 4th of December 2018 and 31st of March 2019 will be reduced to zero.

Solution Provider participants:

  • For participants already registered in EMPOWERED 2018: during the Promotion Period, points can be earned for ‘closed won’ perpetual software licence bookings with deal registrations (AD+) created from 3rd of November 2018. 

  • For participants registering in EMPOWERED 2019 : during the Promotion Period, points can be earned for ‘closed won’ perpetual software licence bookings with deal registrations (AD+) created from 4th of May 2019.

To allow VMware to track the points at the Participant level, all Participants need to provide (include) the following information at the deal registration stage on VMware Partner Central:

  • Campaign code: “EMPOWERED19” in the Campaign ID field.

  • Also please ensure your name is in the field of "Primary Sales Contact Name" under Partner Information, or Additional Opportunity Information.

  • Tagging the correct Assessment and TestDrive when applicable, under Selling Activities

All eligible bookings must be approved by VMware and have a valid ORAN.

Participants are responsible for ensuring that the information provided, including each deal registration and campaign code, is accurate. VMware reserves the right to verify the information provided by Participants.

Distributor participants:

Only eligible Licence bookings through Enterprise and Professional tier partners are captured for measurement.

Eligible for both Solution provider and Distributor participants: Licence bookings only, with minimum of $5,000 net booking value to VMware.

The following bookings are excluded from the points calculations: VxRail, Public Sector, SnS, and transactions through VCPP program or OEM partners.

VCPP partners will be measured on total dollar ($) value of closed won deal registrations. The measurement will be consolidated at the end of the promotion period.

4. Recognition:

For EMPOWERED 2019 participants, VMware will organise an exclusive training trip (“Trip 2”) in St Moritz from Friday 7th of February to Monday 10th of February 2020.

Allocation of training seats:

Solution Provider Participants:  the eligible top 10 points earning individual sellers will be invited to attend. They will be entitled  to invite one System Engineer from the same organisation, who is key to the success, to the same trip.

Distributors:  the eligible top 2 points earning Distributors from “Developed markets”(*) and top 1 points earning Distributor from “Developing markets”(*) will be invited to the trip. They will each have one seat on the trip. Distributors are responsible for nominating the individual from their organisation to attend the trip and confirm the attendee with VMware within 3 days after the winner announcement.

VCPP Partners: the eligible top 2 performing VCPP partners with the largest total contract value and approved deal registrations will be invited to the trip. Each partner has one seat on the trip. VCPP partners are responsible to nominate the individual from their organisation to attend the trip and confirm the attendee with VMware within 3 days after the winner announcement.

All participating individuals by invitation or nomination will need to register on the event platform, to accept T&Cs and provide the organisational consent prior to the trip.

(*): Market segment as defined under the applicable VMware Partner Program.

The training trips will be organised by VMware and VMware will cover the costs during the training sessions, including accommodation and arranged activities. Please note eligible participants will be responsible for making their own way to and from to the training trip location. Travel costs are not reimbursable by VMware.

5. Leaderboard and Recognition announcement:

Participants from Solution Providers and Distributor representatives will receive their own access to the Promotion platform provided by VMware’s selected agency. Participants can track their own progress and ranking on the leader board.

The eligible participants of the trip will be announced at the beginning of January 2020.

6. Trip Invitation Acceptance

All invited eligible participants to the trip must confirm if they intend to accept the invitation within 3 days of the announcement, by email to [email protected] or else VMware reserves the right to offer the invitation to the next eligible Participant.

Promotion Terms & Conditions

1. Participation in the Promotion constitutes full and unconditional agreement to these Terms and Conditions.

2. All federal, state, provincial and local laws and regulations apply. This Promotion is void where prohibited by applicable laws or by your organization’s policies.

3. In no event will VMware (including its subsidiaries and affiliates, and their respective directors, officers, employees, contractors, vendors and agents) be liable to Partner or any other party for any claim for loss, including without limitation, time, money, goodwill, any lost or damaged data (including, without limitation, the loss of or damage to any user content) and any consequential damages, which may arise from Partner’s participation in this Promotion or Partner’s use or misuse of any benefits received hereunder, even if VMware has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

4. The decision of VMware is final on all matters relating to this Promotion and these Terms and Conditions, and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.

5. If any provision of these Terms & Conditions is declared void, invalid or unenforceable by law by a competent court of jurisdiction, such declaration shall in no way affect the other provisions contained herein.

6. Any delay or omission by VMware in enforcing its rights under, or the fulfilment of any requirement contained in these Terms & Conditions shall not be interpreted as a waiver of such right or requirement.

7. Ethics and Compliance: Any benefit received by a Participant under this Promotion must not be used to offer, pay, promise or authorize any direct or indirect payments or provide anything of value (including, but not limited to, gratuities, gifts, favours, entertainment, loans) to any person, including government official or employees, for the purpose of obtaining business.

8. VMware reserves the right to change the terms of or cancel this Promotion at any time.

9. Termination as a VMware Partner results in immediate ineligibility of participation in this Promotion as of the date of termination.

10. VMware is not responsible for: (1) any incorrect or inaccurate information, whether caused by printing errors or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Promotion; (2) technical failures of any kind, including, but not limited to malfunctions, interruptions, or disconnections in phone lines or network hardware or software; (3) unauthorized human intervention in any part of the promotion; (4) technical or human error which may occur in the administration of the promotion; or (5) any injury or damage to persons or property which may be caused, directly or indirectly, in whole or in part, from participation in the Promotion or receipt or use or misuse of any reward.

11. This Promotion (including these Terms and Conditions) and Participant’s participation therein are governed by the laws of England and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts. Should any provisions herein be held by a court of law to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the legality, validity and enforceability of the remaining provisions shall not be affected or impaired thereby.

12. There may be tax consequences that result from Participant’s participation in this Promotion. Participant and Partner are responsible for ensuring that any taxes arising from participation in this Promotion are reported and paid to the appropriate tax authority. Notwithstanding the foregoing, upon Participant’s written request to VMware containing proper supporting documentation, VMware shall reimburse Participant for any taxes paid to the appropriate tax authority arising from the training trip.

13. Points earned by Participants may only be used for one EMPOWERED promotion at a time.

14 Notwithstanding anything herein, VMware’s aggregate liability under this Promotion, regardless of the form of action, will not exceed the lesser of the benefit amount available hereunder or the sum of United States Dollars One Thousand (USD $1,000) only.
